After about 36hrs of analyzing data we have definitively identified the issue with recent payouts. We are in the process of determining the root cause, however the following has been identified:
- As you know, there was an initial bug that caused the block payout to be delayed. This was due to multiple blocks being found in a short time period. The stratum attempted to payout blocks that were not yet confirmed and in turn had a debit in the ledger (database). This has since been corrected in the code to ensure that blocks will never be paid out prior to confirmation.
- While testing this patch we received multiple complaints regarding payouts. While we truly and honestly appreciate all the feedback as it is needed, there were a couple situations that became confrontational, and we felt pressured to force a payout. In an attempt to mitigate the community concerns, we donated 204 ERG from our personal account to “fund” the
pool and force payout. We ask in the future, if we encounter an error, please be patient while we troubleshoot. I think you will find that we are the most transparent pool operators you will find anywhere. We will continue to do so with ongoing transparency through this process. - In hindsight funding the pool was a big mistake. Due to the nature of the blockchain pool operation reward mechanisms, all of the 204 ERG was distributed to everyone in the pool including ourselves. There was another bug (still to be determined) which caused 2 of the payouts to pay all miners 2x on one block and 3x on another. This is shown in the example below. We have also included a full spreadsheet that can be sorted by your wallet address to see the ledger info for your specific wallet.
In addition to the ERG we deposited from personal accounts, it also consumed additional ERG which made the wallet short funds in paying five miners who did not receive their funds after backing out the extra rewards. There is still 40 ERG that must be paid to the following miners:

We understand we cannot force you to do anything but hope you decide to do the right thing. Although we are backed by a private entity, this project is truly a community-built effort and the returned funds will go a long way in continuous development of this project.
In closing, one thing we want to point is the ability to easily manipulate the data in a traditional pool model. Although, this was obviously complete unintentional, it shows the power and centralization the pool operator has. This is exactly what we are looking to change with GetBlok.io SmartPool. We knew there were risks in taking this venture, but in concern with the trust that you have placed upon us, we also believe in the power of decentralization and smart contracts.
